NORMA LILLIAN O'BRIEN
Passed on: January 28th, 2011
On Friday, January 28, 2011 Norma Lillian O'Brien (née Severinson) passed away at the age of 83.
She will always be lovingly remembered by her sons Rik, Alan and Kerry, her daughters-in-law MaryAnne, Cecile and Susan, her grandchildren Sherry, Alanna, Marie and Allen, her sister Karen and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was sadly predeceased by her daughter Sherry Lynn O'Brien, her brother Larry and recently by her husband Allen Rolland O'Brien.
Norma met her husband Allen in the early 50's while he was serving in the Royal Canadian Navy. Shortly after, they married and started their family. Over the years they had the opportunity to live in many different cities throughout western Canada before they retired in Kamloops.
Norma had an aptitude for math, always amazing us with her ability to calculate numbers quickly in her head. She loved to garden - rarely did a weed escape her eye. She kept the family warm in the many mitts, gloves and wool jackets she lovingly crocheted. On Christmas Eve family members were treated to delicious homemade cookies, tarts and fruit cake. We will miss her quick witted sense of humour and the smile that followed.
She joins her husband of more than 50 years, whom she has missed dearly over the past 18 months.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Norma's caregivers at The Hamlets, especially to Jennifer, Andrea , Linea and Diala for their kindness and compassion for Norma over the past few years.
A Graveside Service for Norma will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The Hillside Cemetery (750 Notre Dame Drive), followed by an Open House at 1:00 p.m. at Rik and MaryAnne O'Brien's home (710 Clements Court).
