It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family of Isabell MacLean (a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home) announce her passing on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on Sept. 7, 1923, Isabell was the daughter of the late Roderick and Essie (Nicholson) MacLennan.
Isabell was an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, and was recognized by the many organizations for which she volunteered her time and talents. She will always be remembered for her outgoing personality, her great sense of humour, her love of singing, her compassion for others and her strong faith.
Her family would like to thank the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home and the Northside General Hospital for the kindness and compassion given to mom over the past couple of years.
Isabell is survived by her three children, Barbara (Randy) Kearnes, Joyce (Greg) Cordy and Robert (Marlene) MacLean; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan MacLennan, Truro, and Jean Holmes, Sydney Mines; two nieces and two nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Murdock MacLean; sister, Eva and brother, Neil.
The funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Marion Barclay MacKay officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Isabell's memory may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of one's choice.
