
David "Dave" Barnes
MOUNT THOM - David Brian "Dave" Barnes, 64, Mount Thom, Pictou Co., passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Halifax Infirmary as the result of an accident.
Born in Oxford, he was a son of the late Gordon and Mary (Dixon) Barnes, Mount Thom.
Dave was a well known welder, having owned and operated "Dave Barnes Welding and Trailers" for several years with his two sons. Prior to having his own company, he had worked with Glasgow Metals for many years. Dave was always willing to help others, but most of all enjoyed his family.
He will be sadly missed by wife, Sadie (Mabey); daughter, Debi Barnes, Truro; sons, Brian, Salt Springs; and Gordie (Sarah), Mount Thom; grandchildren: Christa Barnes (Brody Rundle), Amanda Barnes (Josh Howe) and Justin Barnes; Brittany, Morganne, and Alexander Robben; Logan and Lily Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Bradyn and Camdyn Rundle; sister, Sharon Keay (John), New Glasgow; brother, Terry, Alma; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Salt Springs, with the Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating. Burial will be in Stillman Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or to the Burn Unit of the QEII Hospital.
