It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Alice Markotjohn, 79, of New Waterford Highway on Feb. 1, 2011, at New Waterford Hospital.
Born Jan. 16, 1932, in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Sadie (Burns) Avery.
Alice loved going for walks and picking blueberries. She also enjoyed tending to her household plants.
She will be missed and never forgotten by her daughters, Sandra (Ralph) Head, New Waterford, Linda McKay; sons, Melvin McKay (Susan), Billy (Valerie) McKay; one sister, Elaine Micholsky, all of Ontario; grandchildren, Danny and Stacy Head, Lisa Crummey, Daniel and Gina McKay, Tiffany, Nathan and Brittany McKay; two great-grandchildren; family and friends.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by a sister, Dolly Blackwood, brothers, Garfield, Cecil and Tod Avery, first husband, Dan McKay and second husband, Angelo Markotjohn.
There will be no visitation by her request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service for family and friends will be held at All Saints Anglican Church at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church of which she was a faithful member until her illness.
