With great sorrow we announce the death of Gertie Cecelia Janes (nee Cross) who died at the age of 71 in the early morning of July 7th 2009, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Oliver, her children; Henry, Lillian (Harold), William (Wanda), Angela (Richard) Taylor, Melissa (Dave) Janes-Crawford, Linda (Tony) McKay, Phillip (Paula), & Jeremy, her grandchildren; Tracy, Lee, Tammy, Richard, Catherine, Michael, Craig, Cecelia, Justin, Julia, Christopher, Nevada, Sarah, Christa, & Nicole, her great grandchildren; William, Tyme, Kaitlyn, Brody, Kaylee, Autumn, & Brock. Her siblings; Don (Shirley) Cross, Margaret (Doyle ) Janes, Grace Bailey, Jane (Bob) Wilton, Patricia Stewart, Brenda (Ron) Pye, Lillian (Russell) Reid, Melvin (Wavey) Cross & Dianne Cross, her brother-in- law, Winston Wiseman Sr. Gertie was predeceased by her parents; Henry & Bride Cross, her sister; Julia Wiseman, & brother-in-law; George Bailey. Also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. The family will be receiving family and friends from the hours of 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday July 8th 2009, & Thursday July 9th 2009, from 10-11 a.m. from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment & Research Foundation, Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center, 300 Prince Phillip Drive St. John's, NL A1B 3V6 in her memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family. The funeral service will take place on Thursday July 9th, 2009, at 2 pm from the Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake, with Major Wayne Pike officiating with the burial to follow at the church cemetery in Deer Lake. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.
