NEW GLASGOW - Francis (Frank) Theodore Martin, 1918 - 2011 - The Time Has Come To Say Good Bye.
Frank Martin of New Glasgow, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Isadore and Bridget (McGuirk) Martin.
Frank spent his working career at I. Matheson's. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 70 years, Winnie (Harper); two sons, Dennis (Brenda), and Dan of New Glasgow; four daughters: Pat (Barry) Dickie of Moncton, NB, Annette (Charles) Stewart and Helen (Ron) Stewart, both of Antigonish, NS, and Kathleen (Peter) Perron of Burlington, Ont.; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his family.
Beside his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters: Margaret, Evelyn and Rita, and four brothers: Patrick, Ambrose, Thomas and Joseph.
Frank was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church all his life. In earlier years, he was a member of the Church Choir and the Holy Name Society.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Summer Street Industries or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
