Mary Stickney

Mary Barbara Stickney of St. Andrews, wife of the late W. John Stickney, passed away on February 3, 2011 at the Charlotte County Hospital. Barbara, the daughter of the late William and Jean (Douglass) MacVay, was born in St. Stephen on November 24, 1917. Predeceased by her parents, husband, and a sister, Lillian Jean (Finigan) Smith. Barbara is survived by her daughter Belinda (Bryan) Spires; her grand daughters Bridgette Spires of Halifax and Barbara (Michael) England of St. Andrews; great grand daughter, Sydney, of St. Andrews; her brother William MacVay of Palm Coast, Florida; niece Jill (Allan) Fiander of Fredericton; grand nephew Craig (Jennifer) Fiander and three great grand nieces Eva, Lila and Sophie of Doylestown, PA. Following graduation from Business College, Barbara was employed for eight years by P. S. Ross & Sons, Montreal. After marriage, she moved to St. Andrews joining the staff of the Biological Station. Upon retirement, she spent many years as Office Manager at Tara Manor. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, active on the Altar Guild and a member of the ACW. Barbara enjoyed people, making new friends and she remained a keen bridge player.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at All Saints Anglican Church, St. Andrews ,NB . Reception to follow at the Inn on Frederick, 58 Frederick St., St. Andrews.
