The death of Ira E. McFarlane of New Maryland, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on February 6th, 2011. Born in New Maryland he was the son of the late Hazen and Bessie (Brown) McFarlane and the husband of Norma (Smith) McFarlane. Ira worked for CNR for 32 years before retiring in 1983. He loved being outdoors especially when camping or four wheeling. He always enjoyed getting a new truck and tinkering with old tractors and was very excited after restoring his 1953 Ford tractor. Ira's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Predeceased by his parents; two brothers-in-law, James Morgan and Boyd Phillips. Survived by his loving wife, Norma, two sons, Gary McFarlane (Karen) of Charters Settlement, NB and Duane McFarlane (Christina) of Fredericton; one daughter, Bonita McFarlane of Edmonton, AB; his siblings, Waldo McFarlane (Marina) of New Maryland, Thelma Morgan of Fredericton, NB and Wilza Phillips of Rusagonis, NB; one grandchild, Valeri Perry (Shawn) of Beaver Dam; one great grandchild Amy Perry.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm. The funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 11th, 2011 at 10:30 am. Archdeacon John Sharpe will officiate. Interment will be in Beaver Dam at a later date.
