Scansen: Irving Earl Scansen, age 64, of Swift Current, Sk passed February 2, 2011. The Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from the Salvation Army Chapel, Swift Current, Sk. with Captain Michael Ramsey officiating. The interment service will take place at South Emmanuel Cemetery at a later date. Life Tribute was presented by his daughter, Jennifer Bennett. Irving is survived by his children; Darren (Sheila) Scansen and Jennifer Bennett; grandchildren; Amanda, Randi-Lynn, Brendan, Krista-Lee, Brady and Justine; brothers and sisters; Claudia (John) Zacharias, Linda Garland, Lois (Don) Marsh, Janice (Romeo) Lacelle, Ardis (Richard Carlson, Arnold (Sharon) Scansen; former wife Barbara Freel and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parent Clifford and Rita Scansen. Irving was born on August 30, 1947 in Ponteix, Sk. He married Barbara Wigness on August 1, 1969 in Admiral. He farmed most of his life in the area. Irving was a member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed visiting and having coffee with friends and family, playing card and hearing and telling jokes. Irving gave a whole new meaning to a person that would give you the shirt off his back. He had a heart of gold and will be remembered and missed by many.
