Gordon King
The passing of Gordon Karl King of Kingsclear, NB occurred on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was 85. Born in Kingsclear, NB, he was a son of the late Alfred and Sadie (McGary) King. Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He began working as a taxi driver when he first left the farm life. It was at this time that he met his wife of 64 years, Betty Estabrooks. From there he purchased his first truck, but worked as a cook at the The Goody Shop and later the Grand Hotel, before returning to and settling into his career as a trucker. He went from driving for Hawkins (Atlantic wholesale) to being an independent trucker in the forestry and construction industry. His hard work and integrity were traits he was well known for. Prior to his retirement he worked for Lud-San Enterprise. Survived by his loving wife Shirley (Betty) King; children, Wayne King (Cheryl) of Calgary, Pamela Fraser (Larry) of Kingsclear, Paulette King (Ginny) of Calgary, Karen King (Janice) of Calgary and Christopher (Carolyn) Estabrooks of Kingsclear. Grandchildren; Connie (Bobby), Rae, Matthew (Meaghan), Joely (Chris), Amy (Mark), Jacey, Shayne (Renna); great grandchildren, Lacey, Bailey, Taylor, Kennedy, Carter, Kaine, Shianne, Camryn, Adam, Thomas, Rylie, Raigen and Zoe. Sister Lorna MacBean (Douglas) of Kingsclear, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by brothers and sisters; Norman King, Roxie Bourgoyne, Joanne Goodine, Earl King, Roy King, Marie Kitchen and Annetta McGuire.
Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 with funeral service on Thursday, February 10 at 2PM with Rev. Peter Sherwood officiating from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in the Kilburn Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; John MacBean, Gary MacBean, Greg King, Kevin King, Richard Ludford and Bryant Ludford.
