Blenkhorn, Elizabeth "Betty" Reta, of Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2011, in the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro. Born in Fox River, Cumberland County, August 8, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Alice (Crossman) Hughes. She was a member of the Valley (Coldstream) United Church and former member of the Brunswick Street United Church Truro. She was a former C.N.A. at the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro for approximately 6 years. She then worked with the Colchester East Hants School Board, retiring in 1972. She is survived by son, Sheldon "Joe" (Evelyn), Brookside; daughter-in-law, Carole, Harmony Rd. Truro; sister, Myrtle Hughes, New Glasgow; son-in-law, Arthur (Sonny) Jamieson, Valley; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar; daughter, Ada; son, Gordon; granddaughter, Debbie; sisters, Lena, Marjorie, Milda, Marguerite; brothers, Harlan, Otto, Charlie, Clayton. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. By Betty's request there will be no visitation or services held. Interment will be held at a late date in the Crossroads Cemetery in Valley. No flowers by request. Donations in Betty's memory may be made to the Valley United Church.
