CONRAD (McCabe), Vera Louise - 90, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday morning, February 6, 2011, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born June 12, 1920, in Brookside, Colchester County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Fielding) McCabe. In her earlier years, Vera worked at Weir's Nursing Home as a nurse's aid. She loved to dance and was known for her doll collection numbering into the hundreds. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her children, Heloise (Earle) Morgan, Erma (Bob) Denton, Brookfield; Frankie (Gail) Conrad, Bible Hill; LaVerne (Jim) Campbell, North River; Debbie Smith, Bible Hill; Bernard (Joanne) Conrad, Pleasant Valley; Hector Conrad, Greenfield; Wade Conrad (Robin Whooten), North River; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; companion, Ross Davidson, Onslow. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Douglas Conrad; four grandchildren; 13 siblings. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Vera's family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011, Reverend Larry Harrison officiating.
