Reginald "Dick" Slaunwhite
At Oromocto Public Hospital on Monday February 7, 2011 Reginald William "Dick" Slaunwhite passed away at the age of 79. Born in Halifax, NS, he was a son of the late Reginald and Jennie Slaunwhite. He was a member of the 724 Comm. Squadron with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1952 to 1982, having served two tours of duty peacekeeping in Egypt and Syria. After his military career, he was employed with the Canadian Corp. of Commissionaires.
Dick was one of the founding members of the Oromocto Slow Pitch League. He loved fishing, baseball, playing guitar and singing. Because of his love of music, his children have been blessed with the gift. He is survived by a daughter Judy MacKay (Douglas) of Summerside, PEI; three sons David (Suzanne) of Moncton, Robert (Karen) of Oromocto, Ronald (Denise) of Moncton; seven grandchildren Joshua MacKay of Calgary, Amber, Christian and Colin Slaunwhite all of Moncton, James, Jill and Jordan Slaunwhite all of Oromocto; great grandchildren Isaac, Noah, Brendan, Aiden, Julie and Haley; five brothers, two sisters, many nieces, nephews and cousins; mother of his children Grace Slaunwhite; his beloved predeceased dog Brandy; his chosen son Stuart.
The family will receive friends at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, NB on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm, during which time, prayers, stories and music remembering Dick will be shared.
