On Monday, February 7, 2011 Mr. George Fountain Winter of Kamloops passed away unexpectedly at the age of 79 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Doreen Paige; four stepdaughters: Yvonne Simmons of Quesnel, Debby Paige (Mike) of Barriere, Roxy Whitham (Bruce Morley) of Kamloops and Tammy Charbonneau (Clay) of Langley; four grandchildren: Christopher Whitham of Kamloops, Cpl. Douglas Winter of Edmonton, Carli Charbonneau of Victoria and Nayla Charbonneau of Langley. Also left to cherish his memory, his two brothers Clifford Winter and Edward Winter, and three sisters: Florence, Margaret Kidner and Sharon Drydale (Brian) all of Edson, Alberta, and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his mother and father Edna and Clifford, his brother Charlie and son-in-law Don Simmons.

George was born in Bickerdike, Alberta and raised on the family homestead in Edson. He moved to B.C. when he was 15 years old. In his youth he worked on many jobs until taking employment at 7-0 Ranch in Rayleigh. He worked there for the next 37 years retiring in 2008 as Ranch Manager.

He was very proud of his family especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with his friends at Sunday Brunch in Barriere.

George was a founding member of the Kamloops Light Horse Club.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial tea to celebrate George's life on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Schoening Chapel Tea Room, 513 Seymour Street.

Should friends desire, donations to the Variety Club of B.C., 4300 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby, B.C., V5C 6C6 in memory of George would be appreciated.
