SUE MARR

Sue Marr, a loving Mother, Grandma & Great Grandma passed away Monday, February 7th at the grand age of 100 years.

Sue Wong was born on August 16, 1910 in Toy San, China. She married Danny Marr on December 14, 1928 when he went back to China. After Harry and Frank were born, Danny had to return to Canada. In April 1950, after the Exclusion Act was lifted, Sue came to Kamloops, B.C. with their sons Harry and Frank, to be reunited with her husband Danny. In 1951, daughter Evelyn was born in Kamloops.

Sue was predeceased by Danny in 1988, brother Charlie and sisters Hang Heng and June.

Sue is survived by her three children: Harry (Julia), and Frank (Pam) of Kamloops, and Evelyn (Randy) Enns of Penticton; nine Grandchildren: Frances Marr, Lester (Esther) Marr, Bernice (Michael) Hills, Denice Marr, Debbie (Colman) Wong, Andrew (Yvonne) Marr, Natalie (Terry) Mar, Toni (Tim) McHugh and Jennifer (Dale) Adams; 14 Great Grandchildren: Sarah Marr, Rachel Marr, Briannon and Jonathan Marr, Matthew, Kimberley and Ryan Wong, Andrea and Kathryn Mar, Chloe, Logan and Audrey McHugh, Benjamin and Mia Adams; two brothers: Howard (Kim) Wong and Chun Kwan (Yok) Wong, and many nieces and nephews.

Sue was a strong, feisty lady right to the end. Having lived for over 100 years, she survived many interesting times. In China, with Danny back in Canada, she raised Harry and Frank through the Japanese invasion and Communist takeover. After coming to Kamloops she and Danny lived a wonderful, harmonious life running Danny's Groceteria before retiring in 1967. Besides her loving family, she had many fabulous friends, neighbours, relatives and was a Grand Aunt to many relatives she and Danny helped bring to Canada. She was well known and affectionately called, Gramma Sue or Ma Mu in the community. Sue was very happy and contented with her life as shown on her 100 year old, wrinkle-free face.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dong, Dr. Langevin, Dr. Beaton, Dr. Prasad and the nurses at RIH for her tender care. Many thanks also to the staff of Berwick's seniors' home for their great care during Sue's six month stay.

She will be missed, never forgotten,
and always loved.

A memorial will be held at Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour St., on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Lotus Inn (512 Tranquille Rd.) at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, the Kamloops Chinese Evangelical Free Church or a medical foundation of your choice.
