Webb, James “Jimmie” Ebben, 90, of Parrsboro and formerly of Economy, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2011 in the South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born and raised in Lower Five Islands, he was a son of the late Stewart and Carrie (Webb) Webb. He was a veteran of the 2nd World War serving with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteers Reserve. He was a steel worker structural welder, lumberman and fisherman. He lived in Ontario for a number of years returning home in 1976 settling in Economy. He loved camping and hunting and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 45 in Parrsboro. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by son, Larry (Beth), Lower Five Islands; daughters, Karen (Robert) Bonello, Aurora, ON; Connie (Dave) Turnbull, Grafton, ON; grandchildren, Heather, Stephen (Katie), Robert (Janet), Brian (Allison), Ryan, Andrea (Jay), Jeffrey; great grandchildren, Avery, Fiona, Luke, Jessie, Emily, Daniel. He was predeceased by his wife the former Roberta Irene Elliott; daughter, Doris in infancy; son, James in infancy; 2 sisters in infancy; brothers, Owen, Israel, Wyllie, Minas, Leo, Meart, Norman, Elonzo. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Visitation will be held 3-5 and 7-9pm on Friday, February 11, and funeral service 2pm Saturday, February 12, all in the Economy United Church, with Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Reception to follow in the Economy Recreational Centre. Interment to be held at a later date in the Economy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Truro Corp of the Salvation Army.
