Shawn Andrew Berg
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden and tragic passing on July 6, 2009 of our beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Shawn was born in Moose Jaw, SK on January 27, 1989 to Monte and Kathy Berg, with siblings Nolan, Eric and Jasmine preceding. He grew up on the family farm outside of Marquis, SK, receiving his elementary education at St. Mark’s school. Shawn attended high school at Vanier Collegiate in Moose Jaw where, among many scholastic achievements, he played lead role in the school musical, played in a volleyball city championship and graduated valedictorian of his class. Following this, Shawn’s adventurous nature led him to the Swiss Alps where he began his year-long venture across Europe. He began working as a ski guide where he made countless friends who were blessed in sharing his spirit of adventure. Busy as he was, Shawn always managed to take the time to update his loyal following of friends and family. Upon his return, Shawn’s ambition took him right back to school, enrolling at SIAST in Environmental Engineering Studies. After finishing his first year he began his apprenticeship in Saskatoon in May 2009. Shawn’s love of life allowed him to see great potential in every day. He had an infectious personality, trademark sense of humour, generous spirit and enormous heart. Shawn was predeceased by his grandfather, John Froehlich and aunt Sharon Frick. He will live on in the hearts of his parents Kathy and Monte Berg; brothers Nolan (Hailee) and Eric (Kristin), sister Jasmine (Curtis), nephew Chase, grandmother, Carol Froehlich; grandparents, George and Irene Berg; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. A Prayer Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Reverend Father Neil Osiowy will be the celebrant. Memorials to the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division Ned Andreoni Scholarship Fund would be appreciated. In living memory of Shawn, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
