DURHAM – On February 9, 2011 the Toronto Maple Leafs lost their biggest fan after a nine year battle with a brain tumour.
Bert was born in Pictou November 13, 1964 to proud parents Clifton and Norma (Grice) Wood of Durham.
He was employed by the Town of New Glasgow Engineering Dept. for 25 years where he was loved and respected by his co-workers.
Besides his parents, Bert is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Lynn; sister, Sharon (Tony) Charest, Fall River; in-laws, Simon and Betty Fraser; sister-in-law, and best buddies, Janifer and Scott Darroch; nephew, Matthew (Diane), all of Thorburn.
Visitation will take place at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, Saturday, Feb 12, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb.13, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Durham Presbyterian Church Feb.14, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating. Interment will be in the Durham Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bert’s memory would be gratefully accepted by the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
