John Charles Pozzebon, age 62, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at his residence.
Born in New Waterford on Dec. 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Gino and Olive (MacKinnon) Pozzebon of Hinchey Avenue, New Waterford.
John worked at the steel plant for seven years, he later went into the construction business. In his younger years, John always took great care of himself; he enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars and sky diving. John travelled all over with the Sydney Sky Diving Club.
John Charles Pozzebon is survived by his faithful wife of 40 years Colleen (MacKinnon) Pozzebon; two daughters, Shauna Pozzebon (John Hall), New Waterford, Sheri (Mrs. Pat Power), Glace Bay; one sister, Valerie (Mrs. Larry Gauthier), Lingan; and one brother, Raymond (Linda), New Waterford. John is also survived by five beautiful grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A memorial mass will be held at St. Leonard Church, Mt. Carmel Avenue, New Waterford on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.
As an expression of sympathy for John, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
