Alfred Savoie
Alfred Savoie, 99, formerly of Shediac River passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Villa Providence Home in Shediac following a brief illness. Born in Saint-Maurice, October 11, 1911, he was the son of the late Maxime and Émilienne (Bastarache) Savoie. A World War II Veteran, Alfred served with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a snow plow operator and bridge maintenance worker for the Department of Transport for 17 years. He was a former member of the Club de l'âge d'or in Grande-Digue. He leaves to mourn his two daughters: Alfreda Gallant (late Jean-Paul) of Notre Dame, Adrienne LeBlanc (Camille) of Cocagne; three sons: Jacques and André (Gilberte) both of Shediac River and Léo (Pauline) of Shediac Bridge; four brothers: Irénée Savoie (Florine) and Edgar Savoie (Alma) both of Montréal, QC, Alderic Savoie (Aldéa) of Bouctouche and Roger Savoie (Marie-Thérèse) of St. Thomas; two sisters: Hélène LeBlanc of Moncton, Marie Paquette (Raymond) of Montréal, QC; one brother Paul Savoie of Montréal, QC, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Florence Savoie and by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Ida (Savoie) Savoie (1994), son Gérard, four sister: Imelda, Annie and Rhéa and Jeannette and by two brothers: Sylvain and Émile.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac, N.B. E4P 2G1 (532-3297) on Monday, February 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. ONLY. No visiting hours prior to funeral. The funeral mass will be celebrated at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
