THISTLE, Ruth E., 85 - of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Monday, February 7th, 2011 with her family by her side. Born in Lockeport, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Maude (Townsend) Blades. She will be remembered as a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, neighbor and friend. She is survived by her daughters: Joan Fraser (Bill Gibson) of Halifax, Audrey “Billie” Wamboldt (Meredith Dauphinee) of Bridgewater, Bonnie (Dave) MacDonald of Timberlea and Joy (Bob) Young of Stratford, P.E.I. Sons: John Jr. “Jack” (Wendy) of Brooklyn, Clay (Myra) of Milton and Randy (Debbie) of Dryden, ON.; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; Adopted sister Yvonne Cotter of East Green Harbor. She was predeceased by her husband John, infant grandson Richard, granddaughter Tamara “Tammy’ Fraser and sisters Gladys Silver, Ethel Pyne and Marjorie Foote. Visitation was Wednesday, February 9th, 2011 and funeral service was held Thursday, February 10th, 2011, both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Lay Minister Peter Anthony officiated. Burial was in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Collaborative Care Unit.
