MOIR, Gerald Gordon "Gerry" — 79, of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away suddenly at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, from complications due to a heart attack on Jan. 18. Gerald was the son of the late James Ireland Jr. and Emma (Richardson) Moir of Dartmouth, where Gerald grew up. Gerald's life will live on through his daughter, Deborah, Ottawa; sons, Michael (Silvia), Halifax; Stephen (Georgina), Ottawa, and one granddaughter, Kristen (James), Ottawa. He will be remembered by brothers, Lorne (Audrey), Lloyd (Bernice), Graham (Joan), and Bruce (Alma). He was predeceased by brothers, Irvin (Hilda), Kenneth (Audrey), Austin (Pauline), Burris (Audrey); sisters, Dorothy, Muriel (Arthur) Howe, Melita (Everett) Weeks, Marion (James) McBurnie, and Helen (Norman) Brumm. Dear to "Gerry's" heart was "Maddie" (Madeline nee Cook), his loving wife of 35 years. He was a wonderful father and friend to Maddie's family. His adopted family includes, Donna (Jan & Mia Ekstedt), Sweden; Franklin VanBlarcom (Glenda), Halifax; John VanBlarcom (Yvonne, Randi Marie and Kelsey), Windsor and Stephen VanBlarcom (Stacey, Jesse and Shyloh), Hantsport.Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd., 419 Albert St., Windsor. There was no visitation by request. A celebration of Gerald's life was held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 in Windsor United Church, 613 King St., Windsor. Rev. Bill Gibson officiated, with a reception immediately after in the church annex. Private family burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. The silver lining is that Gerald will live on in others through his gift to the QEII as a tissue donor, and he makes no bones about it.
