Myrtle Stirling
1906 - 2011 - Myrtle L. (Stanley) Stirling, 105, of the Grass Special Care Home, Riverview, and formerly of Weldon and Cameron Streets, Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Born in Gardiners Creek, she was the daughter of the late John and Louisa (Armstrong) Davidson. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church. She was a Life Member of the Moncton Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, a Life Member of the CN Pensioners Club and a member of the Moncton Lions Seniors Club. Myrtle enjoyed many years at her cottage at St. Martin’s (Saint John County) and actively participated in the St. Martin’s Craft Club. Myrtle will be sadly missed by her son, George H. Stanley (Lynn), of Moncton; her grandson, Jason Stanley (Heather) of Hamilton, ON; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Hanford Stanley and Edwin “Ned” Stirling; sisters, Hazel, Helen, Jessie, Katie, Frances, Laura and Betty and brothers, Harry, Roscoe, Allison, Herbert, Raymond, William and Edward.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service at St. George’s Anglican Church, Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11:00 am, Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John (approximately 3:30 pm).
