Olive MacDonald

Olive Francis MacDonald, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at her home at Celtic Court, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, but a lifetime resident of Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Mabel Stratton. She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Glace Bay, were she worked tirelessly and lovingly for her church for many years.
She was an employee of McCurdy’s for many years and also worked at Oak Hall until her retirement.
Olive is survived by her daughter, Diana MacLean and grandson, John Norman MacLean of Lindenhurst, New York and by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Alexander MacDonald in 1988.
She resided at Celtic Court nursing home in Sydney.
We the family of Olive MacDonald would like to thank the management and staff at Celtic Court who took such loving care of our mom for the last year and a half.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A service to celebrate Olive’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in the spring.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
