ROBERT HERMAN NICHOLSON

ROBERT HERMAN NICHOLSON

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: February 11th, 2011

Fixer, storyteller, fisherman, pilot, grandpa, and much more, Bob died at home in Kamloops at the age of 78 on Friday, February 11th.

He is most lovingly remembered by his wife Geraldine, and his children, Leslie (Ron), Stewart (Tamara), Ford (Lisa), and Caren; as well as grandchildren John, Cody, Walker, Chandler, Hannah, Sophia, Elle-Marie, Maya and Stella. He is survived by his sister Patricia Speakman as well as many beloved nieces and nephews in the Speakman, Eddy, and Ford families.

Bob grew up in Nelson, B.C., and attended Gonzaga University, graduating as an Electrical Engineer in 1954. He was hired by Schlumberger, an oil well service company, and embarked on a 21 year career of engineering and management in Edmonton, Calgary, Houston, and Farnborough, England, where for six years he was Managing Director of Solartron Electronic Group.

Returning to Canada, he studied law at UBC and was called to the B.C. bar in 1983. His working career ended in Kamloops following four years as a Crown Counsel.
He then turned his attention to doting on home life, grandkids, books, friends, fishing, and his model airplane. Bob was an all day optimist who acted on his belief that knowledge and a sense of humor could fix most things. His light heart and loving spirit will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Kamloops United Church, corner St Paul and Fourth Ave. A reception in the church hall will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please support the international aid agency of your choice.
