BILLARD - Ray Billard aged 95 years of Shaunavon, SK, and formerly of the Dollard, SK, district died on July 7, 2009, at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre following a brief illness. He was born in the Dollard, SK district on November 1, 1913. He received his education at Dollard, College Mathieu at Gravelbourg and Moose Jaw Technical School. He took up farming and ranching with his father. He was very particular and took pride in his farm and cattle. He married Georgette Gregoire on October 21, 1941, at Dollard. He moved into Shaunavon in 1981. He enjoyed reading, fishing, playing cards, playing pool, traveling and visiting with friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Marthe in 1952; his father, Henri in 1959; his step-mother, Annie Billard in 1981; his brothers, Lucien and Gerard; and by many friends. He is survived by his wife Georgette; three children, Maurice (Sandra) of Dollard, Jacqueline LaPointe (Joe) of Saskatoon, and Michael (Sherry) of Dollard; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Renee Billard of Victoria and Dorothy Billard of California; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from Christ the King R. C. Church in Shaunavon on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Rick Krofchek officiating. The eulogy was presented by Joe LaPointe. Urn Bearers were Lee Billard and Marc LaPointe. Prayer Services were held from Christ the King R. C. Church on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. Interment of his cremated remains took place at St. Joan of Arc Cemetery at Dollard, SK.
