It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Agnes Watson Poole, age 87, resident of Rotary Drive, Sydney, formerly of North Sydney, on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Fifeshire, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane (Watson) Reid. She came to Canada when she was four years old. She moved to Montreal in her teens and worked there for a period of time as a model. Later she was employed with Warworks during the Second World War. Agnes was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving is a son, Gordon and his wife, Mary, Edmonton, Alta.; daughter, Jean (Poole) Sampson, North Sydney; grandson, Jeff Sampson; her caregiver, Judy and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vince Poole; sister, Marlene Grey, Ontario; brother, Jack Reid, Halifax.
No visitation was held by request. A private family funeral service was held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial to take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later time.
