It is with our deepest sadness and heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Catherine Ann Shaw. Catherine was called home on July 8 2009, surrounded by her loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in the Quarry, St. Ann, she was the daughter of the late Rachal (Morrison) and Murdock ‘Leezie’ MacLennan. Catherine was a member of the St. Ann’s Bay United Church. She lived and raised her 13 children in Wreck Cove, and later in life resided with her daughter Ann in Westmount.

She also leaves to mourn, 31 precious grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Dan Neil; son Abraham; daughter in infancy, Nelly Mae; brother, Jack, and two sisters, Margaret, and Elizabeth.
Visitation for Catherine will be Monday July 13, 2009 at the Westmount United Church from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and will continue Tuesday July 14, 2009 at the St. Ann’s Bay United Church, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. with Dianne Kempt, DLM officiating.
