BERKSHIRE, David Keith– 61, Wileville, Passed away on June 27, 2009 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Spencer’s Cove, Placentia Bay NL, on July 2, 1947, he was the youngest son of the late Capt. Clement and Annie (Burton) Berkshire. In September 1964, David started working for H.R. Doane and Company (predecessor of Grant Thornton LLP) in Grand Falls, NL. He moved to Liverpool, NS in September of 1970 and to Bridgewater in August 1972 and worked until February 2009. He became Principal of Grant Thornton LLP in 1999. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Mavis (Mercer); son Jeffrey; daughters Lisa (Douglas) Laird, Nancy and Julie; grandchildren Angus and Megan Laird, brother Raymond (Alma); sisters Joyce Wareham, Bertha (Gordon) Williams, Barbara James; sister-in-law Dawna Berkshire. David was predeceased by his brother Allan. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. A memorial Service in Celebration of David’s life was held 2 p.m. Friday July 3, 2009 in Bridgewater United Church, Rev. Ivan Norton Officiating. A private family burial was held in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. A reception for family and friends followed the service in the Church Hall. Memorial Donations may be made to the David K.
