The death occurred peacefully, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, with his loving family at his side, on Friday, February 18, 2011, of Abel Gallant, of Summerside, aged 85 years.
Born in Mont Carmel, he was the son of the late Laurent and Gladys (Gallant) Gallant. Survived by his daughters, Rita (Alphonse) Arsenault, Urbainville; Erma (Leo) Gallant, Mont Carmel; Claudette (Melvin) Gallant, Mont Carmel; Simone, Phyllis and Yvonne, all of Summerside; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Richard and Edna Arsenault; brothers-in-law, Ben Sonier, Albert Richard and Antoine (Denise) Richard; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, Mary (Richard) Gallant; granddaughter, Cindy Gallant; and by a sister, Annie Sonier.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Tuesday, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 2:30 p.m. Interment will later take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours were held Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
