White, Arthur Douglas “Doug” — age 89, of Centre Rawdon, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, surrounded by his family. Born on Aug. 17, 1921 in Noel Road, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Harvie) White. Doug was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the medical corp. He enjoyed baseball, horseshoes and bowling. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Dorothy Ruth White; daughters, Darlene Noble, Nine Mile River; Adelle (Cecil) Fletcher, Centre Rawdon; son, Randy, at home; five grandchildren, Denise Noble (Karry Anthony); Jonathan (Theresa) Noble; Mark (Jennifer) Fletcher; Michael Fletcher; Meredith (Bobby) Miller; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan and Brandon MacPhee; Cohan and Dawson Noble; Mariah and Jessie Miller; Ryan and Nolan Fletcher; sister, Ada White, Noel Road; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Arthur and Mary (Harvie) White; he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Eric Noble; sisters, Pearl Harvie, Carrie Anthony, and Vivian White; brothers, Wilbert, George, Alden, Eugene, Trueman and Carleton White. Special thanks to Dr. Jim Leahy, Cathy MacMillan, the VON and his personal care workers. Visitation was 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Neil Bergman officiated, followed by interment in the Centre Rawdon United Church Cemetery, Centre Rawdon, Hants County.
