Gary Hayden
1951 - 2011 - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gary Hayden, 59, of Riverview, a loving father, grandfather, and much loved husband. Gary passed away at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday, February 21, 2011 after an unrelenting battle with cancer. Born in St. John, NB, he was the son of Arthur Hayden of Moncton and the late Mary Hayden. Gary began his career with the Moncton City Police Force on October 15, 1973. His service with the Moncton City Police included work with Patrols, the General Investigative Section, and the Drug Section where he was part of the Joint Forces Operation. After amalgamation in 1998, Gary continued his service with the RCMP, completing twenty five years of dedicated service with the Drug Section. In 1993 he was honoured with the Police Exemplary Service Medal. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Barbara (Manship) Hayden, much loved sons and daughters: Brian of Charlottetown, PEI, Colton of Riverview, Erin of Toronto, Ont., Leigh Hayden (Bruce Facette) of Ottawa, Ont., Deanne Carter (Scott Rogers) of Ottawa. He is survived by sisters; Joy Boyce (Glen) of Moncton, Lori McKinley (Craig) of Salisbury, Wendy Trevors (Wes) of Miramichi, brother; Randy Hayden (Lynn) of Calgary, Alb., granddaughters; Emma, Jayde & Faithe and grandson Jesse. Gary also leaves behind brother in law Scott Manship (Sheri), many nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. Gary was predeceased by his brother Brian, a friend and childhood companion he never forgot. Gary treasured spending time with his friends and family. He was known for his easy laugh and generous approach to life. He enjoyed travelling and was a car and Harley Davidson enthusiast.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, February 24th, 2011 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at Funeral service will be held from Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 25th, 2011 at 2:30pm with burial to follow at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Oncology Department.
