Murray Patrick
Dr. Murray Carl Patrick, 1921-2011, died at the DVA Hospital in Fredericton on February 22nd. He was born in Hampton, NB to Lily and Hugh Patrick and was the youngest of seven sons. The family moved to the US and his early education was in Connecticut and Massachusetts schools. He served in the RCAF Coastal command from 1939-1945. Murray took his pre-medical studies at UNB and obtained his M.D.C.M. from McGill in 1953. His first year of general practice was in Chapleau, ON and in 1955 the family moved to Boiestown, NB where his practice included home deliveries and some dentistry. In 1959 Murray's family moved to Fredericton where he joined the Fredericton Medical Clinic and remained for the next 17 years. From 1976 until his retirement he was a Medical Consultant with the NB Medical Division of the Dept. of Health. Dr. Patrick was a member of the NB Medical Society, the Miramichi Salmon Association and a life member of the Atlantic Salmon Frederation. He was also belonged to the Royal Canadian Air Force Association and The Royal Canadian Legion. He was an honorary life member of the RCMP Veterans Association and a charter member of the Fredericton Garrison Club. Murray was married to Marie Beatteay of Saint John for 66 years. They have five children, Cathy of Jemseg, Karen (David) of Manotick, ON, Peter (Elizabeth) of Montreal, Paul of Fredericton and Dr. Allen (Shelley) of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Rebecca of Montreal and Stephanie, Ian, David and Katherine of Fredericton. He also has one remaining brother, Keith of Kitchener, ON.
Because several family members are out of the country there will be no service at this time. A celebration of Murray's life will be held at a later date which will be announced. The family offers a special thanks to Dr. Keddy and the wonderful, caring staff of the Veteran's Hospital.
