Arthur Ward

It is with sad and heavy heart that I write this obituary notice for my best friend and husband Arthur Macaulay Ward, 65, of Coldbrook, Nova Scotia. Art passed away suddenly February 17, 2011 in Donna, Texas. Born on June 21, 1945, Saint John, NB, a son of the late Art and Betty Ward (Macaulay). Art had a successful career with Petro Canada for 37 years and has been retired for the past 8 years. Art loved his girls and was always there for us. Many fond family memories and good friends were made in our summer home at the Plantation Campground. He was always interested in cars and was an avid Nascar race fan and one of his favourite places was in the stands at the races. He especially loved being a grandparent to his darling Abby. He was a strong supporter and coach of Ringette in Lower Sackville for many years. He loved to travel and after retirement became a professional snowbird travelling throughout the US. Eventually Donna, Texas became his winter home. He is survived by his loving wife Betty of 43 years, daughters Tracy (Jason), Hackett, Timberlea, Teri-Lyn (Trevor) Holm-Laursen, Dartmouth. grandchildren Abby 3 and Ben 3 weeks, (Teri-Lyn's children) and Maeve 9, Grace 7, Sawyer 5 who joined our family when Jason and Tracy married. Brothers Don, (Mary Kaye) Bill (Shelly) and Peter (Valerie) Saint John, New Brunswick. sister Elizabeth Anne, (Buster) Sussex, New Brunswick, mother-in-law Roberta Grandy of Saint John. Brother in laws Terry, and James Grandy and sister in law Carolyn Asmerian. Many nieces and nephews. He has left behind many friends and lots of wonderful memories to hide away in our hearts. Many thanks to Dave (his best bud) and Dianne Andrews for their wonderful support.
A visitation for family and close friends will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St, Dartmouth, on Friday, February 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. where a Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, February 26 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow in the funeral home reception centre. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Flowers welcomed or donations to the Kidney Foundation or Canadian Mental Health.
