It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear friend and cousin, Fred O’Neill at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, on July 11, 2009, with loving cousins, Mary, Renee, Leo Saccary and family and Myrtle Campbell at his side.
Fred was born Aug. 8, 1942, and was the only child of Mary (Lynk) and Peter O’Neill. Fred resided in Bridgeport and moved to Toronto in 2006.
Fred was predeceased by his mother and father and leaves to mourn his many relatives and friends in both Glace Bay and Toronto, especially his Aunt Christie Saccary, Glace Bay, Mary, Rene, Leo and Gerard Sacrey, Toronto, and Myrtle Campbell, Glace Bay.
Fred worked as a teacher and principal at Bridgeport School, Glace Bay where he worked for 35 years. He was instrumental in developing innovative educational programs to foster the full potential of all students.
The family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the professional medical staff who cared for Fred while he was a patient at the ICU-Med-Surg department at St. Michael’s Hospital.
At his request cremation has taken place and a celebration of Fred’s life will take place in Toronto and in Glace Bay at a later date.
Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
