Doris MacIntosh

MacIntosh, Doris Lula (McLaren), 90 of George Street, New Glasgow formerly of Blue Mountain and the Garden of Eden passed away peacefully February 23, 2011in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in the Garden of Eden she was a daughter of the late Annie McLaren.
She lived most of her married life in Blue Mountain, and the last number of years with her daughter Mitzie.
Doris fought Cancer many times having always got the last word in and winning. Her determination and strong faith were her steadfast supports along with her family. She spent many hours studying and researching the history of her family with her friend Jessie, and enjoyed sharing her information with family and friends. She took great pride in her family and always had a story to tell.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Mitzie, New Glasgow; son Sandy(Muriel), Garden of Eden; a daughter Donna, Oshawa, Ont. Doris was affectionately nanny to grandchildren, Debbie, New Glasgow; Kim, Blue Mountain; Sandy, New Glasgow; Jaret, New Glasgow; Letitia, New Glasgow; “G.G” to great-grandchildren Aaron, New Glashow; Brett, New Glasgow; Jordan, Halifax; Marshall, Oshawa; Mason, Oshawa; Mason, New Glasgow; Megan, New Glasgow and Olivia, New Glasgow. Doris was “G.G.G.” to 5th generation grandchild Devon. She is also survived by “Special Angel”, Jenny, Hillside.
Doris is survived by chosen sister Vivetta Stewart and half brother Jimmy Campbell, MacGrath’s Mountain; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Burns, children Burns and Mary, half brothers Dan Campbell and Vincent Campbell.
She was a woman of great strength and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her smile was radiant with an impeccable sense of humour.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday from where funeral services will be held 11am Saturday with Rev. Pat. Wilson presiding. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will then follow in the Garden of Eden cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Pictou County S.P.C.A. or to a charity of one’s choice.
