Mary Cook
The death of Mary G. Cook of Hampton, widow of the late C. Donald Cook occurred February 24, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Yarmouth, NS, April 4, 1922, daughter of the late William and Lizzie (Robichaud) Surette. Mary was a member of the Special Friends Group, KV Bowling Group, Supper Club, Hampton Senior Resource Center, past member of Temple Baptist Church, Yarmouth and an adherent member of Central Norton Baptist church. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy “Cookie” (Rod) MacDonald of Hampton; two grandsons Andrew MacDonald of South Korea and Mark MacDonald of Halifax ; nieces Sandra Cook-Wright and Debbie Pothier; nephews Clifford and Harry Surette and the McCann Family of Windsor, Ont. Mary was predeceased by one grandson Micheil and three brothers, Ernest, Clifford & Adelbert. "Mary was a gentle soul - a true Christian lady who had a zest for life! She could light up a room with her sweet smile and fill a room with her spontaneous laugh! She was a social butterfly who loved being active and involved with friends. Bowling was her passion and at 88 years young she was bowling weekly. A loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays she thoroughly enjoyed watching televised games. Her days consisted of living happily with Cookie (Dorothy) and Rod, and spoiling her grandsons Andrew and Mark. Always at her side was her beloved companion and protector, her dog Laddie. Forever and for always those who loved her will treasure how she touched their lives in such a loving, caring and positive way. Mary has gone home to be with her Lord and we know she will be our special angel who will watch over us."
