PRIME, Roy Arthur – 82, passed away peacefully at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 19, 2011 with his family by his side. Born February 21, 1928, in Carlton, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late Stewart and Annie (Hurlburt) Prime. Roy was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was a licensed automotive mechanic and also operated heavy equipment and loved working in the woods. Roy was an avid outdoorsman. Roy is survived by wife of 60+ years, Helen Maureen (Ford) Prime; daughters, Darlene (Edward) Murphy, Pleasant Valley; Karen Prime, companion Bernie Jacquard of Dayton; Sons, Arthur (Elizabeth), Deerfield; Preston (Shelley Francis), Deerfield; Howard (Janice), Deerfield; Sisters, Lillian Goudey, Brazil Lake; Ruth Goudey, Pleasant Valley; adopted sister, Betty Bethune, Carleton; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday, February 21 from 7-9 p.m. with Funeral Tuesday, February 22 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mike Cannell officiated. Interment followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or charity of choice. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the excellent care given to Roy while he was a patient at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
