Porter, Hilda Mae -91, Formerly of Central Argyle, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in California she was the daughter of Jeanette and Smith Wagner. She held a great love of the outdoors, ocean and loved joining her friends for a good game of bingo. She always had a great love for animals and was very happy to hold them for hours. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Henry( Carolyn) Porter, Bridgewater; Carl Porter, Liverpool; Irene ( John) Raynard, Hebron; Lawrence (Yvonne) Porter, Lansdowne, Ontario; Bruce (Sally) Porter, Central Argyle; Arthur (Linda) Porter, Central Argyle; Christine (Alvah) D’Entremont, Lower West Pubnico; and former daughter in law Nancy (Sue) Spinney, Argyle; 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She is predeceased by her husband Gordon (Tom) Porter and twin infant sons and daughters in law’s Marilyn and Donna. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and New Horizons West Pubnico. Thanks so much to Dr. Ridha and the nursing staff of three East for all the loving care, support and kindness during her brief stay. A special thanks to the staff of Olsen’s Glo Estates for taking such good care of her for the last 5 years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday, February 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was held Tuesday, February 22 at 11 a.m. Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Dave Wilcox officiated. Interment followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Argyle.
