HUBBARD, Joan Elizabeth – 68, Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Born October 2, 1942 in Abram’s River, she was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Frances A. (LeBlanc) Doucette. Joan was an active member of Saint Anne’s Parish, and she took part in Relay for Life, as well as fundraising with the Kidney Foundation. Surviving are her husband of nearly 45 years, Thomas Hubbard; daughters, Bev (Gary) Muise, Hubbard’s Point; Yvette Hubbard, Yarmouth, as well as grandchildren, Bradley, Stephanie, Amanda and Scott; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Keaton, Cole and Sophie. Also surviving are her twin sister, June (Johnny) Deveau, Yarmouth; Raymond (Pearl) Doucette, Belleville; Shirley (Gilbert) Deveau, Salmon River; Clarence (Virginia) Doucette, Tusket; Norma (Augustin) d’Entremont, West Pubnico; Neil (Cindy) Doucette, Tusket; Evelyn (Warren) Bourque, Lake Charles, Louisianna; Richard (Gail) Doucette and Diane (David) Muise, both of Hubbard’s Point. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Ivan Doucette, Tommy LeBlanc and Henry Doucette. Visitation took place from 7-9 Friday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held on Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc officiated. Interment took place in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Renal Dialysis unit. The family wishes to send a special thanks to Joan’s brother, Clarence, who was dedicated to driving her for all of her dialysis appointments these last few years, as well as to the nursing staff in the dialysis unit.
