Betty Caroline Ferguson (nee Matheson) 83, of Truro, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Born on July 17, 1925 in Noel, Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Percy W. and Ancie Jean (White) Matheson Creelman. Betty received her early education in Hants County and completed her high school education at the Colchester County Academy and then attended Success Business College in Truro. She was a member of Brunswick United Church and a member of the Fellowship Workers Group of the UCW. Mom enjoyed her time spent at the cottage in Brule, knitting, her flowers and her cup of tea with neighbours and friends, but her main purpose in life was the welfare of her family. Her warm loving heart provided a welcome to all and a nurturing home to her family. She left us as she lived, without complaint and with quiet dignity, strength, courage and faith that made her the soul of our family. She gave us unconditional love, comfort and joy that we feel whenever we talk about her. Our mother is our oldest and closest friend and she will be loved, missed and treasured forever. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her son Gary and his wife Martha, Bowen Island, BC, her daughter Heather and her husband Brian Blaikie, Truro. Also surviving are her treasured grandchildren, Mark Ferguson, Bowen Island, BC, Jennifer Ferguson, Wales, UK, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Fielding, Brookfield, Kari (Andrew) Furmidge, Middle Stewiacke; 2 great-granddaughters; 4 great-grandsons.
Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1990; her only brother Thomas Matheson.
