Emanuel (Larry) Vella

Emmanuel (Larry) Vella of Riverview passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 83. Born in Malta, he was the son of the late Carmen and Mary (Sammut) Vella. Larry was a very loving and proud father, grandfather (Poppy) and great-grandfather. He was employed as a foreman for over 19 years at the Eaton’s bake shop in Toronto prior to his retirement from Hallmark Cards. He enjoyed the many friends he made over the years during his Thursday afternoon seniors bowling at Fairlanes, having a passion and love for gardening he could grow tomatoes just about anywhere, and also enjoyed time spent with his friends playing pool. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Barbara (Osborne), daughter Mary Louise Wilson (Jim) of Moncton, step-daughter Claudette Montgomery of Quebec, sons Ronald (Rhoda) of Whitby, Richard (Brenda) of Belleville, and Jim (Denise) of Whitby, ON., and step-daughter Claudette Montgomery of Quebec, a sister Karmena Azzopardi of Australia, grandchildren; Charles, David (Lindsey), Sarah (Greg), Elizabeth (Terrill) and Kimberley, great-grandchildren; Austin and Madden as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife of 50 years, Theresa (Etienne), a son Charles, brothers; Tony, Joe and Jim, and a sister Kellina.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Friday, March 4th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm., with parish prayers taking place at 8:30 PM from the funeral home. The funeral mass will be celebrated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday March 5th, 2011 at 10:00 AM, with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. The interment will take place at Fair Haven Cemetery. Donations to the Palliative Care Unit of The Moncton Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
