Marie Ellen Jessome (MacKinnon), 91, completed her life journey peacefully on Feb. 25, 2011, surrounded by the reflection of love from her family and caring staff at the Ocean View Manor where she was a resident for the past eight years.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Theresa (MacNeil) MacKinnon.
During her residency in Sydney Mines she was a member of Immaculate Conception parish.
Marie is survived by her loving children, Teresa (Tom), Toronto, Ont., Bernard (Patricia), New Market, Ont., Josephine, Orillia, Ont., Linda (Leonard), Lake Echo, N.S., Millie, Dartmouth, Mona (Mike), Dartmouth, Mary (Lorne), Calgary, Gerard (Kim), Barrie, Ont.
She sadly leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Donald, Donna, Sheryle, Blaise, Bucky, April, Diana, Rhonda, David, Darryl, Gayle, Heather, Deryk, Tanya, Lisa, Kristin, Sarah, Michael, and Luke; 21 great-grandchildren are also saddened by their loss. Marie is also survived by one sister, Mary Ann, Toronto, Ont.
Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her loving husband, John Joseph and her son, John Joseph (Coke), siblings, Sadie, Angus, William (Dody) Dan James and Patrick.

Visitation for Marie Ellen Jessome will be held today (Monday, Feb. 28) from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating, with a reception to follow in the centennial room.
