The death of Edith Marie Chappell, age 87, widow of Aubrey Chappell of Tidnish occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, February 26, 2011 following a lengthy illness.
Born in Liscomb, NS, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Annie (Dingle) Laing.
Coming to Tidnish, NS when married in 1946, she became one of the long term residents contributing much to the community.
Edith will be sadly missed by her son, James (Ceciley) of Amherst and a daughter, Mabel (Alan) White, River Hebert; grandchildren, Christine (Michel) Vaillancourt, Carrie (John Reid) White, Jillian (Jim) Ross, Pamela and Sara Chappell; great grandchildren, John and Madison; a sister, Beulah Davidson, Tidnish and a brother, Raymond (Viola) Laing, Dartmouth and a special sister-in-law, Rose Laing, Sherbrooke.
She was predeceased by her husband Aubrey Chappell in 1968 and by brother Aubrey Laing.
Edith's remains have been cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (667-8777). By her request there will be no visitation or memorial service. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of the donor's choice gratefully accepted.
