John Wallace Mingo
Mingo, John Wallace – 83, Truro, died peacefully, Sunday, Feb 27, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by his wife Marion and his girls. Born in Truro, Jan 4, 1928 he was the son of the late Bill and Dorothy (Steele) Mingo. John was a painter/handyman, in the Truro area all his working years. He loved to have jam sessions with friends and family, playing his guitar and harmonica. He also loved to putter in his backyard garden. He loved a good game of croquet and could be heard stating “Wanna get beat in a game?” John is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Marion, (Boo) (Hendrican); five daughters, Barbara (Gordon) Mingo, Teresa (Rod ) Higgins, Karen (Ron) Lynds, Cindy (Willie) Mingo, and Penny Mingo; nine grandchildren, Brian, John, Carla, Matthew, Erin, Jeffrey, Sonya, Robert, and Corey; eight great-grandchildren, Brooke, Katelyn, Niya, Makayla, Riley, Trent, Michael, and Kyla. John was one of seventeen children; only five who have predeceased him. Thanks to the staff of 4 South for all their concern for Dad while he was in the hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
