age 68 of St. John’s NL, passed away Feb. 25, 2011 in Northwood Care 9 Centre. Born in St. John’s NL, she was the daughter of Angela Walsh and Frank Lavigne. Helen was an avid skater and tennis player. She enjoyed animals and her family. Helen worked for Canada Post and was the first female letter carrier in Newfoundland. Helen won the Mt. Pearl Tennis Club Championship in the late 1980s. She is survived by a daughter, Angi-Lynn Smith, a son Doug Smith, sisters Lorraine Dinn, Jeanette Mercer, Dorothy Bailey, Marie Hayes, and grandchildren Isaac and Ethan Smith. She was predeceased by mother Angela Walsh and father Frank Lavigne. Funeral service will be held in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Hfx NS, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11 am, Father Lloyd O’Neill officiating.
