Born March 18, 1923 in the village of Solinka in the county of Lesko, Western Ukraine, deceased February 24, 2011 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Anne came to Canada at the age of seven, first living in Hafford and then moving to Krydor, SK where she spent her school years. She moved to Moose Jaw in the late 1940’s where she was employed with the Saskatchewan Department of Labour, working there until her retirement. Anne loved gardening, and her flowers were a showpiece of the neighborhood. She was a talented seamstress and stitcher, and especially enjoyed knitting for orphanages in the Ukraine and Mexico. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Moose Jaw, and a founding member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Moose Jaw, as well she was a member of the Ukrainian National Home, the Prosvita Society, the Taras Shevchenko Kobzar Society and enjoyed “swim club” at the Prairie Oasis with friends. Anne loved to travel, and toured several times in the Ukraine, as well as spending winter holidays in Mexico where she worked as a volunteer in orphanages. Anne was predeceased by her parents, William and Eva; brother, Steve; life partner, Demko Zawadzki and daughter, Natalie Der Yea. She is survived by her grandsons, Michael Der of Calgary, Jason (Heidi) Der and their son Austin of Saskatoon; brother Mike (Elsie) Kawulych of Vegerville and son-in-law, Bill Der of Saskatoon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 10:00 am at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 625 Fifth Ave. S.W., Moose Jaw. Fr. Yurij Lazurko will be the Mass Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Prayers will be held on Friday, March 4th at 7:30 pm at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
