IN LOVING MEMORY OF
EDWARD STANLEY ADAMS
October 23rd, 1944 -
February 24th, 2011
At the age of 66 years
It is with heartfelt sadness that we mourn the passing of our much loved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Friend.
Ed left us unexpectedly after a short five week courageous battle against colon cancer at Royal Inland Hospital with his family by his side.
Ed will be greatly missed by his loving wife Kitty (Katheryn), daughter Cheri-Lee (David), grandchildren Tanner and Adaira, mother-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Nick/Gaby and family, sister-in-law Marilyn/Harold and family, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Ed was predeceased by first born Sandra, parents Mary and Stanley, brothers Ormond, Joseph, Michael and Paul, brothers-in-law Ernie, Frank, John, father-in-law Rod.
Born October 23rd, 1944 at RIH, lived in Spences Bridge until the age of 7, he then moved to Kamloops and graduated in 1963 from NorKam Secondary. Ed then went to Chicago to learn how to operate heavy duty equipment, he then returned to Kamloops where in 1965 he met his loving wife Kitty, and they married on November 12th, 1966. During the early years of married life Ed worked in the logging industry, then spent a year driving a mail truck before once again returning to the logging industry.
In 1971 he was hired at Weyerhaeuser/Domtar as an equipment operator in the chip yard before being promoted to the chip tower. He was a hard working, loyal employee for 39 years, who loved and took pride in his job, he was always the first to step up to the plate when things needed to be done, or changes needed to be made, he would never back down.
Ed was considered by many, a good friend, and one of the best workers, he was always kind enough to invite people up to the chip tower to share a cup of tea/hot chocolate or even a bowl of soup. He was known for going the extra mile to help out, even his family, friends and neighbours considered him a loyal man, one you could always count on, as he was a jack of all trades and there wasn't anything he couldn't do.
Ed emphasized strong family values and was proud of his family. With a big smile he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren Tanner and Adaira. He was a very loving husband to his wife Kitty of 44 years.
He had a great passion for the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Ed was loved and respected by all who met him. He was a kind and generous soul, who will be missed by many.
"My Loving Husband, keep the seat in the boat warm till we meet again my love" - Kitty
"My Dad and I didn't always see eye to eye, and I always wanted to be 'daddy's little girl', he was a stubborn man but I am so grateful that during his last few weeks we were able to achieve that bond, 'I love you dad.'" - Cheri
"Grandpa we miss you dearly and you will live on in our hearts forever" - Tanner and Adaira
"Ed I'm sorry our time together was so short, and sad that I wasn't able to join the father I wish I had in the hunting and fishing trips that were always a love of mine too, maybe we can try again the next time we meet". - David
Special thanks to the nurses at RIH, his many visitors, Dave Coneybeare for helping the family in their time of need and his daughter Cheri for all the extra bedside care and support to her mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in Ed's name.
