Barrington "Barrie" Smith

Barrie Smith of Fredericton passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 2, 2011 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital, after many years of living with Multiple Sclerosis. Born in England on November 10, 1941, he was the son of Maryellen Smith and the late Lionel Dudley Smith. Barrie worked for CBC for over 30 years, as well as a dispatcher for the RCMP and a Parole Officer for the Province of NB. He leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years Mae (Dykeman) Smith; son Derek wife Nancy; daughter Stacey LeBreton husband Steven; grandchildren Michael Smith, Amanda and Alyssa Phillips; steadfast friends David Malcolm, Bev Bramble, Jon Lownds, Roy Dykeman and Karl Csaszar. Predeceased by grandparents Marjorie and James Edwards.
As per Barrie’s request there will be no visitation, cremation to take place. A graveside service will be held in the Seymour Memorial Cemetery, Kingsley in the spring. Donations to the MS Society of Canada, 19 Creighton Drive, Sussex, NB E4E 3C8 would be appreciated. Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road entrusted with arrangements. The family is most grateful to Staff of York Manor Nursing Home for their care of Barrie the last two years.
