ELIZABETH (BETTY) BARTLETT LARSEN
Born In: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Born: August 2nd, 1917
Elizabeth Bartlett Larsen (Jackson) was born on August 2, 1917, in Vancouver, BC, to William and Clara Jackson.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Evan, her siblings: Gladys, Geoffery and Huebert, and by one great granddaughter. Betty married Evan P. Larsen on December 2, 1939 in Vancouver after they met while working at the Bay. They lived in Vancouver, then Prince Rupert, returning to Vancouver after the war. They moved to Kamloops in 1948, and then settled in Valleyview to raise their children.
She is survived by their 6 children: Bob (Sandi), Bill, Anne (Allan) Dunn, Richard (Sheryl), Gretta (Ron) Popove, and Sandi (Ty) Dawiskiba. She was also loved by 13 grandchildren: Richard and Leslie (Bob's), Boyd, Kristen, Graham and Rod (Anne's), Chelsea, Tanis and Devon (Richard's), Gillian and Meghan (Gretta's), Ryan and Carlea (Sandi's), and 16 great grandchildren. In 1973 Evan and Betty moved to Scotch Creek where they enjoyed their retirement until Evan's death in 1994. Betty moved back to Kamloops where she lived in her own home for 10 years before moving to the Kamloops Senior's Village 7 years ago. While raising her family, Betty's home was always inhabited by the neighbourhood children as well and many have fond memories of her. Betty always enjoyed sewing, and in her later years, she knitted extensively for both family and charity. Betty was known for her sound decision making, including turning in her driver's licence when she felt it was time, and keeping her own home and finances and making all of her own decisions until the end of her life. Betty was very central in the lives of her family members, and we are all very proud that she will always be a part of us.
Thanks Gram.
Tea will be held at the Kamloops Senior's Village, 1220 Hugh Allan Drive on Monday, March 7th, 2011 from 2:00-4:00pm.
